    ABSTRACT 


    A STUDY ON THE PREVENTION OF ACCIDENTS BY FALL IN THE CONSTRUCTION FIELD. 
    - Emphasis on works with movable scaffolding -

                                   Department of Industrial Safety Management 
                                   Graduate School of Kyung Hee University 


     So as to prevent construction accidents from  movable scaffolding, I made a 
    careful study of site  research on the actual condition and serious accidents 
    case  of movable scaffolding that I 
    finded accident cause out. 


     Through the comparative study  with these accident case and Industrial   
    Safety & health Law, if the  safety rules of the law  completely shold be 
    observed, the accident  rate will be 
    decrease but, for the more effective prevention of accidents, the below 
    matters must be improved. 


     The following is ; 


    1. Although the most of movable scaffolding works is off-and-on, it must be   
    establish solidly to have the load catting capacity and durability. 
    2. There is need for standardization of horse scaffolding and handy foothold. 
    3. As a countermeasure of work, making standard institution model of           
    movable scaffolding and keeping on site. 
      
     a. Reinforceing movable scaffolding specialy at balcony, stairs and slope   
          side. 
     b. In founding method, rolling tower to be added movable ladder and handy   
       foothold on the top of it have not to be used, if possible. 


    4. The institutional improvement matters related movable scaffolding are       
       following. 


     a. There is  safety standard for movable scaffolding  but the most of them   
          be made by hand and  be founded on site owing  to lack of interesting   
          and  recognition for 
    observing standard. Therefore, there is need of            powerful directions 
    countermeasure. 
     b. Standardization of the foundation type of movable scaffolding and         
         institutionalization of supervisor's approval before the begining of 
    work. 
     c. It must be need safety engineer that works of movable scaffolding for     
        recognization and understanding  of safety standard, workers must be     
        take special safety course 
    institutionaly. 
     d. It need for institutional developement plan to improve movable 
    scaffolding       regular and height controlable.
